I grew up in a space where expressing myself wasn’t allowed.

As an adult, my art allows me to connect with that kid who didn’t get to be himself, and, through creating, I get to help others do the same.

We now live in a world where we are growing less and less connected with each other and, more importantly, with ourselves. I aim to make spaces where people can be truly free to rediscover a childlike sense of wonder, confidence, and joy.

That’s why I founded Vryheid Collective. “Vryheid,” the Afrikaans word for ‘freedom,’ captures my philosophy as an artist, collaborator, and human being.
